Adoption Application

Thank you for reaching out to Ottawa Stray Cat Rescue in your search to adopt a new family member.

While we can provide you with all the information we have while the cat(s) are in our care (ex. the cats temperament observed while in their foster home along with any medical information), our cats are rescues, so we will not have any history pre coming into care.

Please note that our adoption policy requires all our cats to be indoor cats only unless supervised on a harness and leash or in a cat-escape proof enclosure. We spend so much time and energy rescuing them from the outdoors that we want to ensure that all our cats have a long and happy life indoors. There is also the concern that having been strays, some of our cats would revert to their old way of life and not return home.

Please read the bios carefully, as some of our cats require another cat in the home they are adopted into. For others it is ok to be an only pet as long as someone is home during the day. Other cats are independent and/or don’t get along with other cats. Each cat is unique, and our goal is to find the best forever home for each.

Please note that  cats are not tested for FIV/FeLV nor can FIP be predicted.  We will share any medical information gathered during our vet checks and observations revealed during their time in care.  But it is important to know that some illnesses can have an incubation period 10 days, which means that a cat can leave in good health but get sick a few days post adoption. In addition, the stress of a new environment can affect a cats’ immune system.

Please allow up to 24 hours for someone to get back to you.

If ever you can't keep the cat due to allergies, behavioral issues or any other reason, do you agree to contact us since our policy does not allow for our cats to be re-homed without our involvement.
